McGuigan Zero
McGuigan Zero comes from proper winemaking royalty. The McGuigan family has been making wine in Australia's Hunter Valley since the 1880s, when Owen McGuigan first started tending vines in Rothbury alongside his dairy farm. Four generations later, the name carries serious weight. Neil McGuigan, who now leads the family business, has won International Winemaker of the Year at the IWSC multiple times, a record few others have matched.
The Zero range represents McGuigan's entry into alcohol-free wine. Rather than treating it as an afterthought, they've applied their century of winemaking expertise to getting the flavour right. The wines use spinning cone technology to remove alcohol at low temperatures, which helps preserve the grape character that would otherwise get cooked off. Everything in the bottle comes from wine grapes with no artificial sweeteners or flavours added.
The range covers the essentials. There's a Shiraz that works best slightly chilled, a Rosé that consistently gets strong reviews, and a Red Blend. All clock in under 0.05% ABV, roughly the same as you'd find naturally in orange juice. Calories are considerably lower than regular wine, which makes the numbers work for everyday drinking.
McGuigan Zero has become the UK's top-selling still alcohol-free wine brand. You'll find it in most major supermarkets including Tesco, sitting firmly in value territory at the budget-friendly end of AF wine sections. The Buronga Hill winery where the wines are produced runs on 100% renewable electricity. All wines except the Red Blend are vegan-friendly.
The widespread availability and family winemaking pedigree have made McGuigan Zero a fixture in the UK market rather than a niche product.
