Eisberg arrived in the UK in 2001, though its parent company Schloss Wachenheim had been making alcohol-free wine since the 1980s. That head start matters. While newer brands scramble to crack the dealcoholisation puzzle, Eisberg has had decades to refine the process.

Schloss Wachenheim, based in Trier in Germany's Mosel region, started life in 1888 as a sparkling wine producer. The company expanded into alcohol-free wine as the technology improved, developing proprietary vacuum distillation methods that remove alcohol without cooking the wine. The key is keeping temperatures low, which preserves the delicate aromatics that heat would destroy.

The range covers the varietals most wine drinkers reach for. Sauvignon Blanc delivers the expected grassy, citrus character. Chardonnay offers rounder, softer fruit. The Cabernet Sauvignon brings dark berry notes, while the Merlot sits slightly softer. A Rosé and sparkling option round out the core lineup, with seasonal releases like mulled wine appearing when the weather turns.

Eisberg holds the largest share of the dedicated alcohol-free wine market in the UK. You'll find it in Tesco, Morrisons, Co-op, and Ocado, usually at a price point that undercuts premium newcomers. That accessibility has made it the default choice for many who want wine without alcohol but don't want to hunt through specialist retailers.

The brand invested heavily in 2024, doubling production capacity at its Trier facility. Solar panels now supply a chunk of the site's energy. That kind of infrastructure commitment suggests Eisberg sees the alcohol-free wine market continuing to grow, and intends to stay at the front of it.

Eisberg is the closest thing the UK alcohol-free wine market has to a household name. The prices are reasonable, availability is excellent, and decades of production experience mean consistent quality. It won't match a fine Burgundy, but it's a reliable option that doesn't require any effort to find.
