BezalkØ Oatmeal Stout
Nitrogen-carbonated alcohol-free oatmeal stout from Tarnów, Poland. Dark, creamy, and roasted, with the cascading bubble surge of a nitro can.
About This Drink
Most alcohol-free dark beers are CO2-carbonated. The BezalkØ Oatmeal Stout is not. Trzech Kumpli have used nitrogen here, which changes the texture entirely: pour it vertically as instructed and you get a cascade of fine bubbles settling into a dense, creamy head over a near-opaque dark brown body. Roasted barley and oat flakes drive the flavour. There's toasted malt, a hint of chocolate, gentle coffee warmth. The mouthfeel is soft and rounded in the way nitro beers tend to be, avoiding the thin or sharp edges that catch some alcohol-free stouts out. The finish is a soft fade rather than a hard stop. At 10 IBUs and 8% extract, this doesn't overclaim. It sits comfortably in the oatmeal stout category and is one of the better alcohol-free dark beers available in central Europe.
