Pale Ale
A 0.5% pale ale from Birmingham Brewing Company, dry hopped with Citra, Chinook, Centennial, and Mosaic. Brewed to strength rather than dealcoholised.
About This Drink
Brewed at Birmingham Brewing Company's Stirchley site, this one reaches 0.5% ABV naturally through fermentation rather than having alcohol stripped out afterwards. That distinction matters: the hop character comes through cleaner when nothing has been cooked off or processed out. Citra and Mosaic drive the fruit forward, with mandarin and ripe peach upfront and a lime-zest sharpness underneath. Chinook and Centennial bring resinous pine and a grassy edge that keeps the tropical notes in check. Soft caramel malt sits in the background without turning sweet. The finish is long and properly bitter with citrus peel lingering afterwards. Light-bodied with gentle carbonation, this is a well-constructed half-percent ale that doesn't need to apologise for what it is.
