Sober Brummie
Sober Brummie comes from Birmingham Brewing Company, an independent operation in Stirchley making award-winning beers with a socially conscious attitude. The AF range carries the same values: gluten-free, vegan, brewed with renewable energy, packaged in recyclables.
The Pale Ale gets brewed exactly like its alcoholic cousins before dry hopping with Citra, Chinook, Centennial, and Mosaic. That hop combination delivers zingy freshness with tropical and citrus notes. At 0.5% ABV in 330ml cans, it's proper craft beer without the alcohol.
The Stout takes things darker. Roasted malts and wholesome oatmeal create rich, indulgent character with genuine depth. Many alcohol-free stouts fall flat, but Birmingham Brewing Company's version maintains the body and complexity the style demands.
Community matters here. A portion of Sober Brummie sales goes to Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, connecting local drinking with local giving. The brewery's Stirchley taproom welcomes visitors Thursdays through Sundays.
The brand has picked up awards for quality, which tracks with what Birmingham beer drinkers already knew. 'Brummie' references Birmingham locals, and the whole project is rooted in its home city: independent, craft, and AF.
