Funhouse
Alcohol-free New England IPA from Utrecht, built on oats, wheat and late-hopped Sabro and Mosaic. Soft, hazy and low in bitterness.
About This Drink
Funhouse is Vandestreek's take on the New England IPA style: hazy, soft, fruit-forward and deliberately light on bitterness. Sabro and Mosaic go in late, keeping the aromatic oils intact. The grain bill of barley malt, wheat and oats provides the characteristic creamy body that holds NEIPAs together. It pours a hazy pale yellow with a marigold tint. Orange dominates the aroma, with pineapple and grapefruit behind it. On the palate the fruit is rounded rather than sharp, sitting on a pillowy malt base. At 20 IBU it's mild for the IPA category, so there's no hard bite at the end. What you get is mostly fruit and soft grain. The finish fades gently, with a trace of tropical sweetness. Compared to the Playground and Grapefruit IPA, this is the more approachable option in the Vandestreek lineup.
