Warsteiner brews Premium Fresh as a proper pilsner first: full maturation, the same Hallertau hop extract and barley malt as the alcoholic version, soft water from the Kaiserquelle spring. The alcohol comes out afterwards. That sequence matters because it means the beer has had time to develop flavour before the extraction process strips it back. What you get is a pale gold lager with genuine pilsner character: a clean biscuity malt base, floral and faintly grassy hop notes, mild bitterness, and a dry herbal finish. It's not a bold drink. The carbonation is lively, the body is light, and nothing lingers. That can work in its favour: this is a straightforward session lager, not something with ambitions beyond its category. As alcohol-free pilsners go, it's competent. The German purity angle isn't just marketing fluff given the production approach, and it tastes noticeably cleaner than some of the sweeter AF lagers on the market.
