Tripel
A 0.4% alcohol-free tripel brewed with barley malt, wheat and oats, with banana and clove on the nose, warming spice through the mid-palate and a dry, clean finish.
About This Drink
Force Majeure Tripel is their flagship, and the most technically ambitious thing in the range. A three-grain bill of barley malt, wheat and oats builds the body and depth you need for a Belgian tripel to feel convincing. It pours deep copper with a modest white head. The nose leads with ripe banana and soft clove, with coriander and a thread of pepper spice behind it. On the palate there is an initial touch of sweetness, then spice takes over through the mid-palate and the finish comes in dry and clean. The mouthfeel is a little softer than most full-strength tripels but holds together well. Force Majeure bills itself as Belgium's only dedicated alcohol-free brewery, and this is the one to judge them by. Serve around 10–12°C in a wide-mouthed tulip glass.
