Warsteiner
The Cramer family has owned Warsteiner since 1753, making it Germany's largest privately owned brewery. Based in Warstein, in the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park of North Rhine-Westphalia, the brewery now ranks fifth among Germany's best-selling beer producers.
Warsteiner built that reputation on pilsner. Their Premium German Pilsener set the template: pale gold, crisp malt, floral hops, clean finish. It's the kind of beer that sells millions of hectolitres by being consistently, reliably good.
Their Fresh 0.0% brings those same qualities to the alcohol-free category. Brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516, it pours bright pale gold with grainy malt aromas and floral hop character. The taste is crisp and dry with light bitterness, smooth mouthfeel, and a brisk herbal finish.
At true 0.0% ABV, Warsteiner Fresh suits athletes, designated drivers, and anyone wanting German pilsner character without alcohol. Best served cold in a tall glass, the traditional pairing suggestions of sausages, pretzels, and salads reflect its German roots.
Available through specialist beer retailers including Dry Drinker in the UK. For a pilsner drinker after established German brewing credentials, 270-plus years of family ownership is a decent backstory.
