Bourbonesque comes from Spirits of Virtue, the Scottish producer behind the Sobour range. It pours warm amber and opens on Madagascan vanilla and sweet oak, with honey and a background of dry spice. The palate is where the oak influence shows most clearly. Toasted malted barley and rye notes sit alongside caramel and walnut, with a quiet woodsmoke thread running through it. The finish is smooth and lingers with dry oak and a faint sea salt note that keeps the sweetness from running away with things. For a zero-alcohol spirit, it has good structural complexity. The balance of sweet and dry is well-judged.
