Royale Blend pushes further into sweet, perfumed territory than any other spirit in the Glen Dochus range. Like the others, it starts with Cairngorm Highland Spring Water and botanical extracts, but the Royale is less interested in whisky character than in pure richness. The nose is distinctive: manuka honey, roasted hazelnuts, candied orange peel and a thread of smoky sandalwood. On the palate, those warm, rounded flavours carry through in a silky, almost velvety texture. Roasted hazelnut, vanilla and honeycomb weave together without becoming cloying. The candied orange adds brightness. The finish is long and exotic, with a moreish depth that lingers. It works well neat over ice, and the sweetness holds up to a long serve with ginger beer.
