Wednesday's Domaine
Wednesday's Domaine launched in 2022 when Luke Hemsley set out to create alcohol-free wines that could hold their own at the dinner table. The brand blends dealcoholised wine with natural flavours to maintain the body and complexity that often disappear when alcohol leaves.
The range includes three wines. Sanguine uses Spanish Tempranillo from La Mancha, delivering ruby colour with cherry, plum, and spice aromatics. Light-bodied and fruity, it recalls Beaujolais more than full-bodied reds. Vignette goes deeper and darker with blackberry and currant notes. Piquant offers a white option with citrus, gooseberry, and light oak character.
Production starts with grapes harvested at night to preserve freshness. After dealcoholisation, careful blending restores what the process removes. The wines avoid the sickly sweetness that plagues many AF options, landing instead on food-friendly profiles with genuine fruit character.
The branding evokes lazy afternoons in the South of France, though the grapes come from Spain. Stylish bottles help these wines look at home on any table, not like health-food compromises.
It's a small range, and a focused one. Wednesday's Domaine isn't trying to cover every occasion. What it does cover, it does with more care than most. Available through Dry Drinker and specialist wine retailers.
