Vignette
The fuller-bodied red in the Wednesday's Domaine range, blending de-alcoholised oaked Petit Verdot and Tempranillo from La Mancha. Dark fruit, spice, and a notably long dry finish.
About This Drink
Vignette is built from a blend of oaked Petit Verdot and Tempranillo from La Mancha, both de-alcoholised separately before being combined with ginger juice concentrate and rectified concentrated grape must to restore weight and complexity. It pours a deep ruby. The nose is more structured than the lighter Sanguine: dark plums, damson, a hint of forest floor, and oak-derived spice sitting underneath. On the palate there is genuine depth for a de-alcoholised wine, with the dark fruit carrying through to a long, dry finish. Tannins are present but well-integrated. The oak influence and the Petit Verdot are what set it apart in this range. Most de-alcoholised reds struggle to deliver any real structure; Vignette gets closer than most, and the finish is long enough to be interesting.
