The Tough Stuff Shandy is a collab between Heaps Normal and Australian drinks company Yumbo Soda Co. The native Australian botanicals, lemon myrtle and makrut lime leaves, are brewed into the recipe rather than added as flavouring, which makes a difference to how they sit in the glass. The aroma is sharp and herbal: lemon myrtle leads, with fresh lime zest behind it and a light grain note underneath. On the palate, it's bright and citrus-forward with something close to homemade lemonade in character: tart and zesty, with a bready, lightly hoppy backbone that keeps it grounded. The botanicals stay present throughout without turning things syrupy or sweet. The finish is clean with a herbal and citrus fade. At 25 calories per 100ml, it carries a bit more body than the Heaps Normal core range. Vegan, low gluten, and preservative-free.
