The Fling Fresh Orange Sour is Heaps Normal's first venture into sour beer territory. Brewed in the gose tradition with the same core ingredients as the rest of the range, the bright citrus character comes from blood orange and fresh thyme running through the recipe. It pours hazy pale amber. On the nose, blood orange and thyme lead, with a subtle grain background keeping things from getting too sharp. The palate opens with a citrus pop, then a mild, clean acidity settles in. The sourness is restrained rather than face-puckering: more of a gentle tartness that sits in balance with a light malt sweetness underneath. The finish is clean, with a lingering citrus note. At 16 calories per 100ml, it's on the lighter end. Vegan, low gluten, and preservative-free.
