About This Drink
Blanc Out draws from the Belgian and German wheat beer tradition. The grain bill is barley, oat, and wheat malt, with orange peel and clove added alongside Crystal and Saaz hops. Saaz brings an earthy, herbal backdrop; the spice additions do the heavier lifting on aroma and character. It pours hazy pale gold, as expected from an unfiltered wheat beer. The nose is orange zest first, with warm clove underneath and soft bready malt behind that. On the palate the wheat gives a gentle creaminess, the citrus is bright without being sharp, and the clove comes through as a light spiced warmth rather than anything medicinal. The finish is dry and clean. For anyone who finds hefeweizens a bit much, the spice here is restrained enough to stay interesting without taking over. Serve cold, straight from the bottle or into a wide-mouthed glass.
