About This Drink
Ruby Grape is built from distilled red wine concentrate, which gives it both the mahogany colour and a wine-derived character that separates it from purely synthetic vermouth alternatives. It's part of Giffard's Non-Alcoholic Cocktail Base range, aimed at professional bar use. The aroma is generous: prune and dark fruit up front, then caramel and vanilla sweetness, with a fresh lift that stops it turning heavy. On the palate there's a gentle bitterness that reads as structure rather than edge, developing into a herbaceous finish that echoes the botanical quality of classic red vermouth. It's restrained and grown-up. At 39kcal per 100ml it's on the lighter end of the range. It has enough bitterness and herbal character to work in a two-ingredient serve with soda, and it layers well as one component in more complex non-alcoholic builds.
