Root Beer
East London craft root beer built on sarsaparilla, burdock root, liquorice, and oil of wintergreen. High carbonation, a rooty vanilla character, and a distinctly medicinal bite.
About This Drink
Square Root's Root Beer draws on the botanicals that define the category: sarsaparilla root for spiced vanilla warmth, burdock root for earthy depth, liquorice for lasting sweetness, and oil of wintergreen for the medicinal edge that separates root beer from everything else on the shelf. It pours deep brown and near-opaque, with vigorous carbonation that builds a short-lived foam. The aroma is rich and herbal: vanilla, anise, and something indefinably medicinal. On the palate, spiced vanilla leads with earthy root bitterness building underneath. The finish is long, dry, and herbaceous. This is an old-school, uncompromising flavour. Best drunk cold from the bottle. If you want a root beer float done properly, add a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.
