German Weissbier
A 0.5% wheat beer brewed in the traditional Bavarian style, unfiltered, with banana and clove from the hefeweizen yeast.
About This Drink
The banana and clove character in a proper weissbier comes from the yeast, not from any flavouring. Lucky Saint uses an authentic hefeweizen strain here, which is what produces those classic notes alongside the light citrus from the grain. It pours hazy amber-gold with a thick white head that hangs around longer than most. The mouthfeel is soft and round, as wheat beer should be. There's a gentle sweetness from the malt, low bitterness, and a mild spice on the finish that lingers without dominating. As a style, weissbier translates well to alcohol-free production because so much of its character comes from yeast and grain rather than alcohol. This is one of the better examples.
