About This Drink
Free Damm comes from Damm, the Barcelona brewery behind Estrella Damm, brewed in the same traditional fashion before the alcohol is removed using vacuum distillation. The lower boiling point of that process helps preserve more of the beer's aromatic character, and Damm restore additional aromatic compounds post-distillation. The result is certified gluten-free and vegan at 0.0% ABV. It pours pale amber with a faint gold tint and a white head. The aroma is understated lager: light malt sweetness, a trace of white flowers and grainy straw. On the palate you get biscuit malt and a touch of toast, a hint of lemon-citrus, and a subdued hop bitterness. The carbonation is fine and tight. At 17 IBU it's on the gentle end of the bitterness scale. It's a decent 0.0% lager that holds up well chilled. Not a complex drink, but it does what a lager is supposed to do without tasting thin or watery.
