About This Drink
Zeronic Fancy Red sits somewhere between a wine and a sparkling soft drink, and it does not try to pretend otherwise. The Zweigelt comes from Heribert Bayer's winery in Burgenland, dealcoholised and combined with a purpose-made raspberry tonic. The tonic is quinine-free, which keeps the bitterness softer than a standard tonic, and the overall drink is fully alcohol-free. In the can the colour is a vivid ruby-red. Ripe raspberry and fresh cherry lead on the nose with a light herbal undercurrent from the tonic. The Zweigelt contributes the dark berry character and some soft tannins that give the drink a bit of structure the tonic alone wouldn't have. The carbonation is active, keeping things lively without obscuring what's underneath. The finish is tart and clean, with berry and a gentle herbal note that lingers briefly. Drunk straight from the fridge over ice it works well as an aperitif. The 250ml can format makes it easy to manage as a single serving.
