The Pathfinder Spirit
A Pacific Northwest botanical spirit built on a base of fermented hempseed, with wormwood, saffron, ginger, and wild-crafted Douglas fir adding serious depth.
About This Drink
Pathfinder goes to unusual lengths to build its base. Hempseed is fermented with yeast strains chosen to keep alcohol low while drawing out flavour, then distilled, then macerated with a botanical lineup that reads like an amaro formula: wormwood, angelica root, saffron, sage, orange peel, ginger, and wild-crafted Douglas fir. The finished spirit sits under 0.5% ABV and contains no CBD or THC. The hemp base does something most spirit alternatives can't quite manage - it gives the liquid genuine body and a faint oiliness that feels weighty in the glass. The nose is earthy and herbal, with sarsaparilla and dried sage coming through clearly alongside a bright saffron florality. On the palate the profile turns bittersweet: wormwood drives a clean, structured bitterness, ginger brings warmth, and orange peel cuts through with citrus. Douglas fir adds a resinous undercurrent that keeps things interesting. The finish is dry and lingers, wormwood and citrus peel going the distance. It's a credible amaro-style option with enough personality to work on its own over ice.
