Primitivo is an interesting choice for dealcoholisation. The variety is thick-skinned and produces deeply ripe fruit, which means there's enough flavour mass to survive the process intact. Vita Libera uses vacuum evaporation at 20°C, the same gentle method across their range, and in this case the result holds up well. The colour is a deep ruby red. You get cherry and raspberry on the nose, backed by hedgerow fruit and a thread of pepper. The palate is smooth and fruit-forward, light to medium in body, with soft tannins and better fruit-acid balance than many dealcoholised reds manage. The finish lingers a little, which is not something you always get at 0.0%. It won't replace the weight of a full-strength Pugliese red, but it's an honest, well-made version that holds its own in the category.
