Clean R is CleanCo's alcohol-free take on Caribbean-style golden rum. The production process is unusual: it uses a small trace of rum alongside botanical and spice blending, vegetable glycerine for body, and no added sugars, with the intention of getting closer to the real thing than a purely flavoured spirit would. Golden in colour, the nose opens with bourbon vanilla and ginger spice over a rum-like base. On the palate there is caramel, brown sugar and baking spice with cinnamon and clove, plus a subtle heat from cayenne pepper that gives it some edge. Dried fruit and oak round things out. The mouthfeel is smooth and medium-bodied, and the finish is warm with a lingering spice. It sits at a nominal 0.0% ABV for labelling purposes, though the trace rum inclusion means there are technically trace alcohol levels present. Ten calories per serving, vegan, no sugar.
