About This Drink
Staropramen is a Prague-based brewery with a long history of making Czech pale lagers, and the 0.0% sits squarely in that tradition. The recipe uses pilsner malt, barley, and Saaz hops, and it's dealcoholised down to nothing. It pours dark golden and clear, with the kind of modest white head you'd expect from a Czech lager. The Saaz hops are present in the aroma, giving that familiar spicy, herbal character alongside bready malt. On the palate there's biscuit and a trace of caramel up front, then the hop spice comes through in the middle. The finish is short and dry with just a faint bitterness. Light carbonation, light body, nothing that demands your attention. It won't surprise you, but it does what it says. If you know the original lager and want something close without the alcohol, this is a reasonable approximation.
