Built on top-fermented beer then dealcoholised, Super 8 Rouge 0.0 blends in cherry juice and cranberry to get its fruit character rather than flavouring extracts. The cranberry keeps the sweetness in check, giving it a genuinely tangy edge rather than just soft, syrupy fruit. It pours deep ruby, bright in the glass. The nose is ripe cherry and a hint of almond. On the palate the fruit is upfront and juicy, with the tartness coming through mid-sip before the carbonation carries it to a clean finish. At 16 kcal per 100ml it is one of the lighter options in the fruit beer category. It works well cold on its own. If you want to be bothered about pairing, dark chocolate and soft cheeses are the obvious candidates, but it mostly just tastes like cherry.
