About This Drink
Kasteel Tropical 0.0 is brewed by Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck in Belgium using fruit concentrates from pineapple, passion fruit, peach and mango. The base is barley and wheat malt with hops and spices, so it sits closer to fruit beer than flavoured water. It pours a bright golden-yellow with a full white head. Passion fruit comes through clearly on the nose, with mango in behind it. The palate is ripe and tropical without being heavy. Bitterness is minimal, which suits the style, but there is enough malt structure underneath to keep things grounded. The finish is dry and clean, with the fruit fading gradually rather than cutting off. The low bitterness and lack of booze make it an easy drink alongside spiced food or a warm-weather barbecue. It sits in an interesting space: sweeter than a wit beer, lighter than a dessert drink.
