A 0.5% IPA from Nottingham's Neon Raptor, brewed with liquid hops rather than whole-cone additions to pull out more hop character at negligible alcohol.
About This Drink
The liquid hops approach is the interesting bit here. Rather than adding hops in their usual pellet or whole-cone form, Neon Raptor uses hop extract, which lets them dial up aroma and flavour intensity without the additional fermentables that drive alcohol higher. Whether that fully compensates is debatable, but the nose is genuinely hoppy: citrus peel up front, some tropical fruit underneath, soft and clean. On the palate it's light, as you'd expect at 0.5%. Oats and wheat in the grain bill give it a rounded softness rather than the thin watery texture that ruins lesser examples. The bitterness is present but restrained, and the citrus note carries through to a short, clean finish with no cloying sweetness hanging around. It's a decent, uncomplicated option if you want something that reads as IPA without much fuss. The Nottingham brewery has a strong craft pedigree and this sits comfortably in its range.
