Kaleidoscope Alcohol-Free
A dealcoholised pale ale from Bristol's Wiper and True, hopped with Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic for a tropical, citrus-forward 0.5%.
About This Drink
Wiper and True brew Kaleidoscope to its full original strength at their Bristol brewery, then remove the alcohol using specialist dealcoholisation technology. The logic is that you preserve more hop character that way than by brewing low from the start, and in this case it holds up. Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic between them cover tropical fruit, pine resin and lemon zest, and the result is a genuinely hop-forward beer at 0.5%. It pours hazy gold with a white, persistent head. Mango and lychee come through on the nose, with grapefruit pith and pine from the Simcoe and a thread of lemon zest underneath. The malt base is light, softened by oats and a touch of biscuit. Bitterness is measured rather than aggressive, and the finish is clean and dry. One of the more convincing AF pale ales available in a can. The hop character holds up, which isn't always a given at this ABV.
