Budweiser Zero takes a different route to most alcohol-free lagers: rather than removing alcohol after the fact, the fermentation process is halted early so that alcohol never builds up in the first place. Beechwood aging, which Budweiser uses across its range, is carried over here. Whether it makes a discernible difference at 0.0% is debatable, but it's a genuine part of how this is made. The result is a light golden lager with a mild malt character, a hint of corn sweetness, and a faint grassy bitterness at the end. It's on the thinner side - the mouthfeel is light and the carbonation low - so if you're after something with body and complexity, this won't deliver it. What it does do is stay clean and easy-drinking, which is probably the point. It comes in zero sugar and around 46 calories per 330ml. Widely available in supermarkets and off-licences. Suits anyone after a familiar lager format without the alcohol, rather than anyone looking for a particularly interesting drink.
