About This Drink
Seven grains is an unusual grain bill for an IPA. Brulo uses Pilsner, Wheat, Oats, Rye, Flaked Rice, Millet, and Flaked Corn together, which creates a layered malt base that supports the substantial hop charge without turning sweet. The hop charge itself covers similar ground: seven varieties, all dry hopped twice. The result pours pale and hazy straw yellow. On the nose there's soft tropical fruit, a grassy pine edge, and warm biscuit malt beneath. On the palate, citrus zest, passionfruit, and pine drive the flavour, with a juicy bitterness that leans more West Coast than the hazy appearance might suggest. Carbonation is light with a crisp bite. The finish is moderately dry with lingering bitterness that holds without getting aggressive. For a 0.5% beer, there's a lot going on.
