About This Drink
Fènix is DosKiwis Brewing's first alcohol-free beer, made at their taproom in Rupià in the Empordà region of Catalonia. The hop bill is Nelson Sauvin, Citra, Motueka, and Simcoe, which between them cover a lot of ground: tropical fruit, citrus, pine, and a light herbal thread that keeps things from going one-note. It pours hazy light gold with a lively white head. The aroma leans pineapple and tropical fruit, with pine resin underneath and a faint biscuit note from the malt. On the palate, fresh citrus leads and a soft malt body keeps it easy-drinking without adding sweetness. The finish is clean and dry with hop bitterness that hangs around for a moment. At 0.4% ABV it's firmly alcohol-free. For a first AF release from a brewery better known for its taproom, it's a competent, well-constructed IPA.
