The Grapefruit IPA takes the same four-hop framework as the Playground and pushes the citrus character further forward by adding natural grapefruit aroma. Columbus, Mosaic, Citra and Cascade already deliver sharp citrus and tropical fruit; the grapefruit addition focuses and amplifies those notes rather than introducing something new. At 60 IBU the bitterness is firm and not apologetic about it. The pour sits at EBC 16, slightly deeper than the Playground, with a reddish amber tint. Grapefruit pith leads on the palate, backed by resinous hop oils and a light biscuit malt base. There's no softness here: the texture is crisp, the body light to medium. The finish is dry, bitter and long-lasting, with grapefruit peel holding on well past the swallow.
