About This Drink
Ghia's Original Apéritif draws on the Italian and French aperitivo tradition: a bittersweet, low-strength drink designed to prime the palate before a meal. This is that ritual without the alcohol, in concentrate form. The profile centres on yuzu, lemon balm and elderflower, with gentian root providing a clean, herbal bitterness that stops it tipping into sweetness. Rhubarb root adds a faint earthiness, orange extract and rosemary bring a savoury edge, and white grape, lemon and plum juice concentrates keep the base rounded. Served over ice with sparkling water, it smells floral and citrus-bright. The first sip opens sweet, the gentian kicks in mid-palate, and the finish is dry and savoury. A 500ml bottle holds 17 servings at the standard 1:3 ratio. Sparkling water is the usual mixer; light kombucha or tonic works too. A rosemary sprig and a twist of yuzu or lemon peel is the garnish to go for if you have them.
