About This Drink
Lyre's Aperitif Rosso is a zero-proof alternative to sweet vermouth, using non-alcoholic fermented grape juice concentrate as its base alongside natural flavourings. It is aimed squarely at cocktail mixing: the body and sweetness level are calibrated to sit where a sweet vermouth would in a recipe. The nose opens on citrus, dried fruit, and almond, with exotic florals, vanilla, and a faint saffron-like savouriness that adds genuine complexity. On the palate, blood orange and vanilla lead, followed by caramel, citrus zest, and a cacao note that coats the mid-palate. The body is relatively full and mouth-coating. It performs well in a non-alcoholic Negroni alongside Lyre's Dry London and Italian Orange, or as the sweet component of a zero-proof Manhattan. The sweetness means it needs something acidic or bitter opposite it in the glass.
