About This Drink
Wake Up Call is built around dark malt and coffee as its two main flavours. The grist includes caramalt, chocolate malt, chocolate wheat, crystal, oats, and Munich, with Centennial hops in support. Coffee extract brings the caffeine count to 37mg per 330ml, roughly a third of a flat white. It pours jet black, opaque, with a toffee-coloured head that clings to the glass. The aroma is immediately coffee-forward: fresh-ground beans and earthy roast, with caramel, cocoa, and a background note of molasses. On the palate, roasted malt and coffee bitterness arrive together with a slight char note from the dark malts, and caramel sweetness mid-palate keeps it from reading as harsh. The mouthfeel is lighter than the colour suggests, with fine carbonation and a dry, coffee-led finish. Contains lactose. If you want an alcohol-free stout with actual coffee presence rather than a background note, this is worth trying.
