Woodcutter Brown Ale
A malt-forward brown ale at under 0.5%, brewed for the Australian market with lactose and Magnum hops. Toasty aroma, biscuit and caramel on the palate, grassy bitterness kept in check.
About This Drink
Woodcutter is a brown ale without sharp edges. The grain bill of barley, wheat and lactose produces a soft, rounded character: toasty on the nose with light caramel undertones, biscuit malt coming through on the palate. Magnum hops contribute a low, grassy bitterness that prevents things tipping into cloying territory, but this is firmly a malt-led beer. Light fruit and soft sweetness from the lactose sit alongside the biscuit malt, and the finish is clean with a brief malt fade. It's not complex, but it's quietly satisfying. An Australian-market release. Contains lactose so not suitable for vegans, and not gluten-free. A comfortable, undemanding brown ale for those who prefer malt over hops.
