ANON's Christmas Pudding is a limited seasonal release that does exactly what it says. The brief is clearly to bottle the smell of a traditional British Christmas pudding, and it comes pretty close. Dark fruit, ginger, vanilla and caramel dominate, with light cinnamon and a suggestion of dried vine fruit in the background. It pours a deep brown. The nose is sweet and warming: caramel, vanilla and ginger lead, with a dried fruit note underneath that does read as pudding-adjacent. On the palate it's sweet and straightforward, with ginger providing the most distinctive character. It's best thought of as a flavoured mixer rather than a spirit for sipping neat. A tall glass over ice with ginger ale is the obvious serve. Warm through with apple juice for an alcohol-free mulled drink, or add a squeeze of lime to cut through the sweetness. It fills the gap during the festive period when everyone else is reaching for a mulled wine.
