A Spanish pilsner-style lager where the malt character is preserved through low-intensity fermentation rather than being added back after dealcoholisation.

San Miguel 0,0 is brewed using adjusted mashing parameters and a low-fermentation process that limits the conversion of sugars to alcohol from the start, rather than brewing full-strength and stripping the alcohol out later. In practice this means the cereal, malt sweetness, and hop aromatics stay relatively intact. It pours clear gold and the nose is herbal and faintly floral, with a clean grain backbone. On the palate there is a light malt sweetness that settles into a rounded, moderately bitter finish. The body is smooth with good carbonation, and it finishes crisp and dry with some lingering cereal character. It's a mainstream AF lager rather than a craft one, but it does the job well. The herbal hop note gives it more personality than some of its competitors and the malt feels genuine rather than hollow. If you drink pilsner lager normally, this is a convincing enough stand-in.
