About This Drink
Hayman's has been distilling gin since 1863, so the alcohol-free version had a lot to live up to. Rather than dealcoholising an existing spirit, London 0% is made with natural flavours, which means the production approach is fundamentally different from most of the range. Whether that matters to you depends on how purist you are about method, but the result is more convincing than you might expect. Juniper comes through clearly on the nose, clean and piney without tipping into artificial. There's a citrus brightness underneath, grapefruit rather than lemon, and dried coriander seed adds a faint earthy edge. In the mouth it holds up better than many AF gins: the body is silky rather than watery, and the finish fades without any harsh chemical aftertaste. It drops away cleanly, with lingering citrus peel. It sits comfortably at the better end of the 0% gin category. The silky texture is the main differentiator. Mix it long with tonic and it behaves like a gin should.
