Tempranillo Rosé
Dealcoholised Tempranillo rosé from Reh Kendermann in Germany, pale salmon in colour with strawberry and watermelon fruit and a noticeably sweet profile.
About This Drink
The Tempranillo Rosé follows the same production approach as the other Studio Zero wines: dealcoholised base wine with invert sugar syrup, natural flavourings and CO2 added back in. At 93% base wine it's a reasonably honest product, though the added sugar is more obvious here than in the other two. It pours a pale salmon pink with a faint sparkle. The nose is soft and fruity: strawberry, a hint of watermelon, some light floral notes that suit the Tempranillo variety in rosé form. On the palate it's the sweetest of the three wines, with 6g of sugar per 100ml giving it a noticeably rounder feel. There are no tannins, acidity is gentle, and the whole thing is straightforward and easy-going. Those after a dry, structured rosé will want to look elsewhere. At 26 calories per 100ml it's the most calorie-dense in the range but still well below an alcoholic equivalent. A decent pick for garden drinking or occasions where something pink and unfussy is the brief.
