Bottega has been making limoncello for over thirty years, and Limoncino 0.0 is the alcohol-free version of that same product. The lemons come from Sicily, specifically the Femminello Siracusano and Verdello varieties, with peel, pulp, and juice all used in production. Without alcohol as a carrier, the lemon character is extracted differently, but the result still reads clearly as a lemon digestif rather than a juice or cordial. The colour is vivid lemon yellow. Fresh peel aroma comes through immediately on the nose, bright and true rather than synthetic. On the palate it is smooth and slightly viscous in texture, which softens what might otherwise be a sharp citrus hit. Natural sweetness and a subtle bitterness sit alongside the lemon, giving it the rounded, digestif character you would expect from the category. Serve straight from the freezer in a small liqueur glass at around 4°C. Works neat after a meal, poured over lemon sorbet, or as a base in lemon-forward mocktails.
