About This Drink
The grapes are grown in Darling in South Africa's Western Cape, where Atlantic breezes temper warm sunshine and dryland farming concentrates flavour. It's 100% Syrah, dealcoholised using gently spun cone technology under vacuum at low temperature, a method designed to strip out the alcohol without flattening the character underneath. French Oak features during malolactic fermentation and ageing, which gives the wine a quiet structural depth. In the glass it pours deep ruby. Blackberry and dark cherry lead on the nose with a thread of spice running through. The palate has real texture for a dealcoholised red, soft tannin that actually comes through on the mid-palate and a dry finish that doesn't disappear after two seconds. It works best at cellar temperature. Pair with roasted lamb, beef or aged hard cheese, or drink it on its own if you want a red that behaves like one.
