GUTsy Captain Zero Watermelon and Mint takes the same flavour pairing as the standard version and runs the fermentation further, converting all the cane sugar. The change alters the balance: without sweetness to mediate between them, the watermelon becomes more subtle and the mint more prominent. The aroma is fresh and clean: light watermelon with a cooling mint note and the underlying tartness of fermented tea. On the palate the watermelon is subtle, almost aqueous, which works well in a zero-sugar format. The mint is noticeably present, clean and cooling, alongside the acidity of the fermented base. The finish is clean and dry with a cooling mint fade. It is one of the more successful entries in the Zero range. The restraint in the watermelon and the prominence of the mint give it a character that holds up without sugar.
