GUTsy Captain Pineapple and Peach puts two fruit characters together on a base of organic fermented green tea. The pineapple and peach are added as natural flavours after fermentation, so the kombucha acidity provides the backbone while the fruit provides the warmth. The pour is pale gold with a light natural sparkle. Pineapple leads on the nose, bright and tropical, with peach sitting soft and rounded underneath. On the palate the pineapple comes first, a little sharp, before the peach rounds things out mid-palate with its gentler sweetness. The natural acidity of the fermented tea stops the combination from tipping into sweetness. The finish is clean and fruit-forward. It is one of the fuller-flavoured options in the core range, and the pairing of the two fruits works better than either would alone.
