About This Drink
Carl Jung Glüh'chen is the brand's take on Glühwein, the traditional German mulled wine of winter markets and cold evenings. It starts from a dealcoholised red wine base and is seasoned with cloves, cinnamon and orange — heat it in a pan without letting it boil, and you have a spiced warm drink without the alcohol. When heated, the aroma is classic Glühwein: warming spice, dried fruit and citrus peel. On the palate the cloves lead, softened by the sweetness of the wine base. Cinnamon provides background warmth, and the orange adds a lift that stops it feeling too heavy. The finish lingers with spice. It is unambiguously a seasonal product — you are unlikely to reach for it in July. But as an alcohol-free option at Christmas gatherings or on a cold walk home, it does the job well.
