Unlike the entry-level Zéro Merlot, this one spends time in oak barrels before dealcoholisation, which adds a woody, spiced layer that stops the fruit from tasting flat or one-dimensional. It pours a deep red with shiny purple hints. Jammy cherries and plums open on the nose alongside black liquorice and a hint of spice. On the palate there is a balance between the ripe Merlot sweetness and the oak that keeps things from tipping into pure fruit juice territory. Vanilla, light spice and soft tannins carry through to a smooth finish. It is one of the more structured options in the alcohol-free red category.
