About This Drink
Wonder was developed in partnership with VisitDenmark to mark the 2024 Paris Olympics and celebrate Danish athletes at the games. More relevantly for the drinker: it was Mikkeller's first attempt at 0.0%, and the ambition was clear from the outset — to produce a zero-alcohol wheat ale that could match the character of their 0.3% beers. It's fermented with the mikkellensis yeast strain that runs through Mikkeller's entire non-alcoholic range, and that yeast is doing a lot of the work here. The aroma is the strongest argument for Wonder's quality: passion fruit and mango push forward boldly, supported by ripe citrus and a delicate wildflower note, with artisan bread and yeast complexity grounding it. It's an unusually expressive nose for a 0.0% beer. On the palate, the fruity acidity from the yeast and hop sweetness work together, with lemony and herbal notes characteristic of the mikkellensis strain alongside a smooth cereal backbone from the wheat and barley. The finish is crisp and aromatic, fading cleanly. At 22 kcal per 100ml, it's one of the lighter options in the range too.
