About This Drink
Albino Pasta is a one-off between Cheltenham's Deya Brewing and We Can Be Friends, a brewery that focuses entirely on alcohol-free beer. The hop bill centres on New Zealand hop kief and NZ hops alongside Luminosa, with a touch of Strata, pushing citrus and tropical character hard for a beer with no alcohol behind it. It pours clear to lightly hazy pale straw. Lime zest and orange peel come through on the nose, with passion fruit and lychee underneath. On the palate the hop flavour is resinous and present in a way that most 0.5% IPAs aren't quite, with citrus pith providing the bitterness and a gentle sweetness from the Luminosa keeping things from going too dry. The finish is clean and short. The collaboration makes sense: Deya knows how to build hop-forward hazy beers, and We Can Be Friends brings specific expertise in getting body and hop expression to work at low alcohol. The result is one of the more convincing no-alcohol IPAs in the format.
