Lowlander Non-Alc Tropical Ale is a fruit beer built with grapefruit and guava alongside the standard ale base. Like the rest of the Lowlander range, the botanicals go in during the brewing process rather than as post-fermentation additions, which tends to produce a more integrated result than beers where fruit is simply added to finished beer. It pours a light amber with good clarity and moderate carbonation. The aroma is bright: grapefruit upfront with the rounder, more floral notes of guava behind it. On the palate the tropical character comes through cleanly, the grapefruit providing gentle bitterness and the guava contributing a soft sweetness. The malt character is restrained, keeping the fruit forward without heaviness. The finish is smooth and fairly short, fading without any harsh notes. At 0.3% it sits in the low-alcohol rather than fully alcohol-free category.
